The process involves performing high resolution SEM analysis down to 0.5µm for 25-30mm diameter samples. The TESCAN TIMA is the fastest SEM based mineralogy system available, which makes it an affordable and rapid analytical technique.

TESCAN TIMA can be used for petrography studies with the added information of mineral chemistry, high resolution analysis, statistics on mineral association and mineral grain size.

With quick sample preparation, 1000’s of samples can be analysed economically from heavy mineral separates, rock chips, powders and core plugs.

TIMA modal analysis is ideal for both element and mineral mapping enabling textural features on the microscale.
By examining the mineral chemistry, mineral associations and grain size, the spatial composition is determined and can be relatedto the formation and paragenesis of the ore.

By sampling the entire mineral system the mineralogical model can also be tied to metallurgical performance for future extractive metallurgical campaigns
